Established in 2001, Fields of Dreams (FoD) is an initiative of A Greater Washington (AGW), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.   For 16 years, FoD has provided free afterschool and summer programming to approximately 3,300 for children ages 5-12 in some of the most underserved communities in Washington, D.C.

The framework of the FoD program is centered on the values that guided Jackie Robinson's life on and off the baseball field. FoD's teachers and coaches use  the book, Jackie's Nine, written by his daughter, Sharon Robinson, to model and encourage the youth in our program. Founders Bruce Adams, Robert Brandon, and Keith Stubbs collaborated with Sharon Robinson and after school officials to develop the curriculum for the program. Working in collaboration with District of Columbia Public Schools, FoD renovated baseball fields, recruited and trained coaches and implemented programs across Ward 7 and 8. Through tutoring, mentoring, and coaching, the values are underscored as approaches to achieve success in academics, athletics, and personal goals.
