FoD offers a free, all day, six week summer camp for 75 youth at one of our DCPS sites from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The camp provides free breakfast and lunch each day, and includes baseball skill workshops and physical exercise in the morning. Academic classes including math, reading, health, art, and social skills. Campers also have two hours of free play time and electives in the afternoon where they can engage in arts and crafts projects, try new activities, swim , or return to the baseball diamond to work on their skills. A few times in the summer, campers go on field trips to Nats games, Six Flags, museums, and other baseball camps.
Typical Summer Camp Daily Schedule:
8:30 a.m.-Student Arrival and Morning Rally
Breakfast is served. Morning rally is held to introduce “values of the day” and recite pledge
9:00 a.m. - Fitness/Baseball instruction
12:15p.m-Academic Enrichment Block - Math (3x per week) Science (2x per week)
1:00pm- Academic Enrichments Block -Reading (3x per week) or Health class (2x per week)
1:45pm- Character Development Class (3x per week)/Financial Literacy Class (once per week)
2:30 -3:40p.m. - Chosen electives or free play time and snack time
3:40-4p.m.-End of the day reflection, group facilitation
*Please note every Friday afternoon beginning at 2:30 is Enrichment day where guests and special activities are held for the entire camp.
