After School Program
FOD operates a after-school program within DC Public Schools. This program allows participants to practice their baseball in the off season, while getting homework assistance and developing their character at the same time. During the school year at each of our elementary schools, we serve approximately 25 boys and girls with a DCPS teacher and a baseball coach, who work as a team both in the classroom and on the field. Teachers are in charge of academic enrichment activities and coaches are responsible for baseball instruction. We provide each student with first-rate baseball equipment and a pro-style uniform. Our students are served a healthy snack through D.C. Public Schools' After School Supper program.
In the spring, the elementary schools play baseball games against one another in our own Fields of Dreams league. We complete the season with a Ward Series Championship.
